Judgment Call
Synopsis: A candid and irreverent look at a group of referee as they struggle to uphold fair-play at a professional paintball tournament in San Diego, California. Judgment Call brings to light this little known story of what these referees endure to participate in the surreal world of professional tournament paintball. Now their story of patience, suffering and brotherhood can be told.
Production Notes: For this project, I was asked if I could come, take video of some guys who referee professional paintball tournaments. It sounded like an interesting experience but I had to let it be known that I would likely poke fun at paintball and the referees. So with no time to have a script or even a real clear idea of the direction of the film other than, “poke fun at things”, I grabbed trusty Billy and he got to fill-in as second camera operator. We came home with about 6 hours of random footage and double the number in welts.
